The caption reads:
"The oldest bearing date palm tree in the U.S.
at Winters, California
Bayard and Don TAYLOR,
Reed WOLFSKILL and
Iris and Virginia TAYLOR"

The identity of the "Reed" WOLFSKILL mentioned in this photo is uncertain at this time, however:
Notes from David H. WOLFSKILL:
"First, recall that folks don't always "go by" their names as given at birth....I strongly suspect that he's Edward's 2nd child, Jack R. WOLFSKILL (born 1880).
Last record I have of him is the 1910 US Census, where he's listed as a Boarder in the Arthur B. ISH [whose wife at that time was Nellie L. (WOLFSKILL) ISH, 9th child of Sarshel Cooper & Margaret (COOPER) WOLFSKILL] household.  His occupation is listed as "laborer" on a fruit farm.  [Color me unsurprised.]  He is also listed as "single" there.  Interesting how he doesn't show up in earlier Census records -- but per the "Ned WOLFSKILL Collection," it seems that Ned spent some time in the Philippines under Gen. MacArthur; that would likely have been around 1898 [Battle of Manila Bay was 01 May] - 1905 or so.  So maybe Jack stayed with some other family hen -- his mother (Annie BOLINGER) died 19 Sep 1891; he (Jack) would have been 10 or 11.  Hmm...  John Reid WOLFSKILL died 28 May 1897.  I suspect that the confluence of events was unlikely to be especially beneficial to Jack/Reid/Reed....Judging by the girls' appearances, that photo looks to be from around late 1902 - early 1903, so Jack R. would have been about 23 or so, which looks plausible.   Hmmm....  I wonder if Jack/Reid/Reed did something like head to Europe around 1914, never to return...."
